Happy Anniversary to us! Many of you witnessed our wedding two years  
ago in our backyard. The trees you gave us as wedding gifts are very  
tall now. Where the dance floor was, there is now a cottage garden  
with fruit trees and wildflowers.

When will we be able to legally wed? Things are looking good in the  
California courts but bad everywhere else. The Attorney General has  
appealed the recent ruling that denying marriage licenses based on  
sex is unconstitutional. The Religious Freedam and Defense of Civil  
Marriage Act (which would have allowed us to marry legally) was  
defeated by 1 vote in the California Assembly. There will probably be  
a ballot measure this fall to deny us all the legal protections we  
have gained so far in California. As you probably know, such measures  
have already passed in several states and many states have passed  
constitutional amendments to deny marriage rights. I just want our  
relationship to have the same legal protections as other people have  
and the same respect.

Scout is 3 years old now, and she's much more mellow than she was 2  
years ago. She's downright lazy sometimes. She's usually the last one  
our of bed in the morning.

Bo and I are less lazy. We've been going to the gym several times a  
week, and Bo has a personal trainer.
